Beaverton Symphony is a Finalist for the The American Prize!
Great news! On June 25, 2026 The American Prize announced the finalist for orchestras and the Beaverton Symphony Orchestra is one of sixteen finalists in the country in the community division, and the only community orchestra from Oregon.
The American Prize is a national non-profit competition in the performing arts. Winners for the Orchestra division will be announced soon.
Congratulations!
Beaverton Symphony Orchestra (BSO) on Tour
Written by Dorothy Kelson and Linda King
The Beaverton Symphony Orchestra (BSO) launched BSO on Tour in 2025 as multigenerational outreach to older adults in retirement homes by taking quality, live, classical music to those who may be physically limited, financially limited, or experience mobility, health or personal limitations.
Our live classical music includes ensembles comprised of four or more BSO musicians who communicate with older adults by personally introducing the BSO and each musical composition we then perform for this live audience. We interact with our audience in ways that invite them to respond to our performances.
BSO on Tour also provides opportunity to experience our full orchestra performances by offering recorded showings of past BSO performances.
Initial response to our BSO on Tour presentations challenge us to further this satisfying endeavor by continuing outreach to our diverse populations in retirement homes.
If your Senior Living Facility is interested in members of the Beaverton Symphony coming to your location, please contact us at executivedirector@beavertonsymphony.org to schedule the BSO on Tour.
